Energy Efficiency Tips

Every home needs a strategy to save money out of something. One of the best way to save which we seldom neglect is to save few bucks by using our home energy wisely and accordingly. If you do it right, you'll have good amount for a family holiday. How does it sound?

What can we actually do?
  • Have you heard of LED lights? This is now a good choice to use at home as it is "85% less energy and lasts 20 times longer than incandescent bulbs". You can buy one from 80 - 1000 luminosity depending on what room you will put it. The options are endless you just need to be very keen in choosing one that best suits your needs.
  • Another no brainer thing to do is to switch off lights and appliances that are not in use. This is often neglected especially when we are too busy with our daily chores.
  • Use timers in water and home heating. Switch off heating in rooms that are not needed.
  • If you are living in house that doesn't have a double glazed window (even if you are), close the curtains to eliminate the loss of heat at night (especially on winter).
  • Have your boiler and other appliances serviced regularly.
  • If you play musical instruments at home, make sure to switch off those instruments when not in use, unplug those pianos and digital drums. A simple thing plugged in can consumed 10-20 % energy still.
  • Reflect back heat by using foil behind the radiators. In that way, heat is bounced back into room.
  • When cooking, put lids over your pots to conserve energy and even reduce condensation in the kitchen. When boiling water for coffee or tea, boil the quantity you just need.
  • Be wise in washing clothes. Lowest water temperature is better. To compensate proper cleaning, choose the right laundry soap that will work on cool washing.
  • Have a proper ventilation at home. Make sure that there's sufficient fresh air around the house. Open window once in a while to avoid moisture and pollutant build-up.

There are plenty more techniques to use energy efficiently. If you know one, please share them on the comment box below. Have a warm autumn and winter everyone.

Colosseum: Gladiators' Battleground

I can't forget the moment I stepped on the ground of this historic Flavian Amphitheatre. I thought I'm hearing the loud voices of spectators around the arena whose watching gladiators fight for their lives.  Colosseum was constructed 70-72AD. It is found at the heart of Piazza del Colosseo (Rome, Italy). The seating capacity of this elliptical amphitheatre is 50,000 spectators. Imagine how big is the place? This is to avoid the long queue and the big disappointment of not getting inside.  Colosseum admission fee: Full ticket - €18.00 EU reduced ticket - €13.50 (available only for European citizens aged between 18 and 25)  EU complimentary ticket- €6.00 (available only for EU citizens aged above 65 and under 18) Opening hours: Mid February - mid March: 9 AM - 4.30 PM Mid March - end March: 9 AM - 5.00 PM End March - end August: 9 AM - 7.00 PM

Seeing the Other Side of the World

I've been living here in Ireland for nearly five years now. I never thought I will be given a chance to the other side of the world. When I decided to come with my husband here, I carried a special joy in my heart because I know my life will change according to God's will.

Love and Marriage

Being married for more than thirteen years does not make me an expert to relationship and family. But it is certain that those years made me the better person I am now and I hope that it is the same with my husband. I personally believe that keeping your marriage healthy, sparkling and smooth boils down to open communication and plain understanding. Aside from these two factors, there are other ways to keep you tied up to the man or woman you say "I Do". According to  Merriam- Webster  Dictionary, "Marriage is  the state of being united to a person of the opposite sex as husband or wife in a consensual and contractual relationship recognized by law". But it is actually more than that. Time, effort, love, affection, acceptance, faithfulness and sincerity goes with marriage. If you are just starting a wonderful married life and you want to keep it till you are both old, you may want to consider the following ways to keep your happy lives together. Put Jesus Christ in
