Charm is deceptive

Charm is deceptive
This photo reminds me of women. Women are very much concern how to maintain their looks. Needless to say, women can spend an hour or more in a beauty shop, trying to figure out what product to use to enhance their beauty.

I believe there's nothing wrong with that as long as you are not forgetting your priorities and you are not neglecting your relationship with God. Like the roses above, all of them are beautiful but there are only few will shine among the rest. Those few are the ones "on the light".

Allow me to share the following verse which reminds me that fear of God is far more important than complete set of Clinique products.

Charm is deceptive, and beauty is fleeting;
but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised.
Proverbs 31:30
New International Version (NIV)

  1. Some people can be vain and in return, they forget that everything will come to naught.

  2. It is good to enhance your appearance once in a while, it is the temple of God and so when you do good to make it look much better, He would appreciate it, I guess...But never forget to thank Him and give him back the glory :)

  5. A thought-provoking verse RL. In general too, we look at the outer appearance (beauty) but God looks at our heart.

  9. That is so true. Sometimes we tend to pay attention to physical features to please others instead of working our ways to please GOD.

  11. I say AMEN to that phrase.

As a woman, I believe that it is first and foremost our duty to praise and give thanks to the Lord every single day.

  12. Amen! Indeed, looks can be very deceptive.

    In 1 Peter 3:3- 5 NIV, it's written and I quote:
"Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and the wearing of gold jewelry and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth in God's sight."

I have come to love and internalized the message of the verse.

Furthermore, I'd like to mention the best quote from The Little Prince which also relates similarly to this post:

"It is only with the heart that one can see rightly. What is essential is invisible to the eyes."

So let us not be deceived by what our naked eye can see. It's just skin deep.

  14. My Dad has taught me to really go to church every Sunday. Although you can praise him anytime but it is really most advantage if you visit him on his house. You can do all your regimen beauty for 6 days as long as you reserved yourself to the LORD on sunday.
